The Hawai’i State Public Charter School Commission introduced us to the Spiral of Inquiry through Becc, Linda and Judy. We try to always participate in opportunities with our charter network and at the time we were thinking about how to incorporate more authentic student voice and agency in our school's work/strategic plan, so Spirals aligned well. Becc was great to work with. We enjoyed the work and she always took the time to talk us through our thoughts/questions/ideas. We started to begin a process of inquiry with student voice at the centre. This resonated with our school leadership style because we focus on design elements in our work with students and faculty.
Becc was great at listening and then providing thoughtful feedback, BUT within our unique context vs. trying a one-size fits all approach.
I appreciated Becc’s shareout on measures and tools to capture student engagement post units/lessons. This was a bit of a tangent from our work, but was very helpful in working out some other ideas for us. She took the time beyond what I believe the scope of the contract was with the Commission.

When I was fortunate enough to receive my current role in school leadership, I was both thrilled and extremely nervous at the same time. I quickly found myself struggling with imposter syndrome and questioning whether I really had what it takes to take on this very important job. A friend was working with Becc as a coach for her education business and had found her help invaluable. I quickly made contact and we had our first session many months before I began in my new role. After one hour of Becc’s coaching I felt much more confident and convinced that I had the skills to succeed in the role. That first one hour session was transformative.
I worked with Becc for my first year in that position and as our sessions together came to an end I quickly realised I wanted to continue this coaching relationship. I have now been in my role for a number of years and our coaching relationship continues. Our monthly sessions are fundamental to my success in this role and I know that I will continue to invest in these sessions for the foreseeable future.
Becc’s coaching style is empowering and is really helping me to meet my potential as a leader. She is very knowledgeable and has enormous expertise in the leadership space. She is also an expert in pedagogy, curriculum and best practice and this was essential to me when I was exploring the skills I was looking for in a leadership coach.
Becc is compassionate and non-judgmental which enables me to be vulnerable and discuss things I deem as personal weaknesses in a way that I couldn’t do with my employers or colleagues. Her guidance is exceptional and I feel very fortunate to have Becc as a coach.

I have always found Becc to be professional, friendly, very supportive and committed to her work and clients.
I was able to upskill in my knowledge and use of the Spiral of Inquiry with Becc’s support. I was then supported in my Leadership capacity to implement a model across Primary and Secondary Schools. I was always able to contact Becc and learn from her whilst she enabled me to have the autonomy to make it work for our context.
We were able to create groups and opportunities across the two sectors for teachers to examine their teacher practice and be reflective practitioners to support student progress.
Becc has a very approachable coaching style. She is able to offer advice but mostly poses questions in order for me to reflect and grow in my work. Her facilitation work is well prepared, non-judgemental, engaging and backed up with research and current understandings. A great role model. When facilitating she presents with honesty and open mindedness as to what others in the room have to offer.
Becc builds relationships in a genuine manner. She shares her journey that has brought her to her place of work and her cultural beliefs and aspirations.
It has been a pleasure to work with Becc over many years through our Kāhui Ako journey. Becc is always there to tap into and gain support from. She is a mentor, facilitator and role model which I have valued.

I found Rebbecca extremely knowledgeable in the Teaching as Inquiry theory and process. Her ability to take a variety of issues that the school had around inquiry and positively build on these felt natural and real. The activities she used with staff were excellent prompts into getting staff thinking about their practice and impact on the students. Rebbecca's coaching style fitted perfectly with our staff and gave teachers confidence to try new teaching approaches.

Her collaborative facilitation style ensures that leaders and teachers learn how to keep student outcomes central to all decisions and actions. She leads this by building the conceptual and theoretical knowledge of our teams. At times this work can be challenging and we appreciate that she takes a strengths-based approach when engaging with us. Rebbecca is always checking for shared understanding as teachers and leaders collect evidence of changes in practice. At times this requires kaiako to be challenged about their deeply held beliefs Rebbecca does this while respecting the mana of all.

We are in our 5th year with Becc, and each year has brought with it a real step up/change to it. You don't stick with a facilitator for that long if they don't deliver the goods. She always pitches the mahi just right...and has scaffolded us from being 'beginner' Spirals practitioners, through to helping us lead and align strategic level work.
Becc’s support has been transformational for our organisation. We have a real professional learning culture now, true depth to our conversations and a real evidence-based approach to teaching/learning and change.
For me personally she has helped me with building team culture, change leadership and how to embed change in a bone deep fashion. Becc has an amazing ability to draw out from us the answers to the complex issues we have. Often I will head into a session with a head full of rocks, and leave with some real depth and clarity.
Becc has been been great at building a relationship with all staff. From very early on she has felt like 'one of the team'...by that I mean it is like she is by our side, working through the issues with us, doing the learning with us. Rather than...delivering content 'at us'.

Beccs does not give you the answers but creates an environment which helps you/team to clarify your thinking with clever questioning done in a very supportive and non-threatening way - she allows time to discuss things but also assists you to pull out what is important and relevant.

Becc’s facilitation meant we came out of the exercise with clear goals and a better understanding of how to work together as a team.

Becc is wonderful. She knows when to listen and when to step in with support. She has many resources to share. We launched the Spiral Inquiry, made several hunches, took a leap to implement a solution, and even shared our journey at the NOIIE Conference. Thank you for helping our school move forward to better determine what is going on for our learners.

Becc has helped me see the value that I bring to the senior leadership team and by pulling apart some of the situations I have been in, I have been able to see things from a very different angle. She has helped me develop confidence in the things I am good at, and see myself as a benefit to my team even though I think in different ways sometimes. Becc was very understanding and I found it easy to speak openly and honestly with her as I didn't feel judged or embarrassed about my perceived shortcomings, Becc made me see these as positive attributes that could help others. Other people (including my husband!) have noticed a change in the way I approach tricky conversations and I actually look forward to using my new skills in tackling difficult subjects.
